About the Opportunity

This vacancy has arisen due to an internal secondment within the University reflecting our commitment to career development and growth opportunities for our staff.

As Associate Director youll play a key role in delivering strategic and operational HR support across a diverse and dynamic stakeholder portfolio. Youll guide your team through complex challenges provide trusted advice in real time and partner closely with leaders to drive impact and shape culture. As a member of People & Wellbeing Leader Team youll help shape our strategic people initiatives represent and advocate for the voice of our stakeholders and contribute to the overall success of our function.

Whats required

Were looking for a seasoned HR practitioner who thrives in fast-paced relationship-driven environments. As a confident and capable leader able to set operatinalise and activate strategy into specific actions youll bring:

  • HR leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of partnership with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and provide pragmatic advice in the moment
  • A solid foundation in industrial relationship paired with a mindset for organisational development (in other words see the trends and initiate proactive action whilst managing the day-to-day operational matters).
  • Sound project management skills to effectively and efficiently monitor and manage team priorities and deliverables.
  • A sharp eye for spotting emerging risks and a proactive approach to manage them
  • A hands on action-oriented style youre keen and comfortable to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
  • Above all youll be a good human; empathetic values-led skilled at building meaningful relationships and bring good vibes to contribute to our great team.

A few of other things:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is great but not essential if you have the right skills and experience.
  • Prior experience in the higher education sector will accelerate your impact in the role however if youve got growth mindset and youre a fast learner weve got your back.
  • From time to time some travel may be required. Having an Australian Drivers license will make this easier.
