Job Description

Job Description Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (L/PTA)Grades PK 6Reports to:RPT Special Education Coordinator(s) Principals and Administrator of Special Education Qualifications:Massachusetts Board Certification / License as a PTAExperience in school based therapy for students age 3 -12 in a variety of models (inclusionary preschools and/or pull out)Experience with various types of disability types i.e.: Cerebal Palsy Muscular Dystrophy Autism Spectrum Disorders generalize gross-motor disorders of MA IEP forms various data collection means and able to write quality progress reportsExcellent written and oral communication and organizational Areas of Responsibility:Develops and implements instructional activities to address students individualized IEP goals/ objectives in identified need areas related to with classroom and other related/special educators to discuss specific student need areas and offer suggestions for teachers/aides relative to accommodations to support individual student needs in identified areas addressed by PT. Participates in Special Education and/or Section 504 Team evaluation and/or review meetings. Specific Areas of Responsibility:Provides direct PT to students in the manner determined by the students special education team. Develops and implements instructional activities to address students individualized IEP goals/ objectives in identified need input to the RPT and Special Education Team regarding students progress in order to help in further development of IEP accommodations goals objectives and service delivery. Records and in conjunction with RPT analyzes performance/ progress data to ascertain effectiveness of treatment programs and make adjustments as necessary. Review IEPs with teachers and aides to support their understanding of each childs unique needs and clarify questions regarding application of accommodations and instructional strategies. Prepares and/or collaborates on the written progress reports for students with special educators according to DESE and district the RPT Special Education Coordinators/Administrator of Special Education and/or Principals in projecting student caseloads and identifying specialized equipment that may be needed to ensure adequate budget development. Other activities as identified by Building Principals to assist students and/or contribute to the smooth operation of the Year:School year calendar; number of days according to district needs.
