Job Description

Varo is an entirely new kind of bank. All digital mission-driven FDIC insured and designed for the way our customers live their lives. A bank for all of us.

Varo is looking for a freelance senior designer or art director to help our creative team.

W2 Contract Details:

- 30 weeks (July 2025 - February 2026)

- 40 hours/week

- 9am-5pm PST

As a senior designer you are a seasoned creative who loves to collaborate with art directors copywriters and other designers to bring a brand to life. Youre on top of industry trends but can incorporate your own unique creativity and lens on the work. You can develop compelling marketing creative that levels up our brand help us grow customers and keep them engaged.

What you will do:

Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling marketing creative that level-up our brand help us grow customers and keep them engaged
Lead creative development from early concepting to final handoff ensuring the work relates strongly to the briefs provided
Partner with stakeholders to create compelling creative that clearly communicates Varos products and offering
Collaborate with a team of art directors writers and designers to interpret our brand across various touch points including web lifecycle and paid media
Work closely with the Creative Director and Senior Art Director to develop and enhance the aesthetic of the brand and ensure all materials are designed and produced accordingly
Create beautiful designs that build upon the library of assets we already have established while looking for innovative ways to evolve how we use type color and photography
Work with project management and stakeholders to gather feedback and incorporate it quickly while meeting deadlines
Partner with copywriters to develop creative thats not only well-executed but strategically tells a story too

Youll bring the following required skills and experiences:

6-9 years of design or art direction experience working within a creative team
Design studio or ad agency experience is preferred but not mandatory
Must have a strong knowledge of web design branding typography digital print and art direction as it pertains to photography video and motion graphics
Organized and clean file management as you work within a brand library of components and collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Marketing
Excellent skills with design software primarily Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
Strong presentation skills
