QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Washington State Career and Technical Education Certification in the subject area (or ability to attain); 6000 hours of documented work experience. Specialized focus in Sports Medicine Health Athletic Training Work based Learning Practicum Experiences.
- Hold or obtain Washington Department of Health License for Athletic Trainers.
- Complete district training regarding concussion management or ability and willingness to attend training.
- Ability to meet WIAA coaching requirements.
- Willingness to recruit and facilitate an active industry advisory committee.
- Demonstrated success supervising a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and student leadership opportunities.
- Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one.
- Willingness to provide CPR/First Aide Certification for students.
The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the schools guiding principles vision and mission. The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences work within a system that supports student interventions and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Previous successful classroom teaching experience.
- Support athletic programs as an athletic trainer coaching contract available
- Willingness to obtain certification to teach College in the High School/CTE Dual Credit.
- Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish.
- Teaching techniques which reflect interactive student-centered project driven instruction and incorporate communicative activities and authentic assessment.
- Ability to maintain program equipment lab area and facilities.
- Successful experience working with an industry advisory committee; attending meetings and participation in committee activities and events.
- Knowledgeable and willing to integrate appropriate technology into the instructional process.
- Willingness to work with the business community to support student learning in the workplace; set up job shadow and internship opportunities. Including supervising students in a practicum experience in the training room.
- Ability to design instruction to meet adopted State and industry standards.
Job Description: The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide an effective program of instruction in Sports Medicine meeting district and state approved program standards (frameworks).
- Develop implement and supervise Washington Career and Technical Sports Medicine Association (WCTSMA) or HOSA following the state approved guidelines for an approved CTSO (after school nights and weekends).
- Provide sports training support for athletic events and practices.
- Be actively involved in industry advisory committee activities; attend meetings and activities (after school evenings).
- Organize and maintain a safe lab environment while teaching and promoting safety.
- Review program needs and participate in the selection of equipment and instructional resources and materials.
- Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan in alignment with state CTE standards.
- Develop and monitor program budget; manage and submit purchases for the program.
- Integrate technology into the instructional process; stay up to date with technology related to the program area.
- Develop business and community partnerships; participate in internships and other industry related educational and training opportunities.
