You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking an Administrative Services Officer 3 (working title: Accounting Manager) who will work under the supervision of the ADJC Business and Finance Administrator serving as a supervisor of all Accounting activities for the Department. This includes overall planning organizing and directing of accounting functions for the Department. Directs and monitors through subordinate accounting staff in accounts payable payroll standards and practices in alignment with ADOA/GAO guidelines and technical support to agency business operations. Daily operations and management of all agency accounting: payroll activities; parental assessment; restitution; grants and youth trust accounts
Provide assistance and support to Business and Finance Administrator; AZ Net Line management; cell phone management
Track and oversee state fleet charges and payment requests.
Ensure acceptable accounting principles are followed; internal controls are in place; and all agency and GAO required policies are followed
Review and approve requisitions and purchase orders through APP and ADJC Purchasing System for accuracy and index coding
Review AZ360 Payroll transactions
Establish and/or revise Business and Finance Section policies and procedures
Supervise and provide guidance to staff and prepare annual employee performance evaluations
Preparation of annual GAO closing package; preparation of various financial reports as requested and required
ADJC AFIS/BREAZ Security Administrator and Employee Travel Card Administrator
Prepare the CLIFF to include with the ADJC Annual Budget Requests
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge of:
-Principles concepts and practices of financial inventory audit fund and program accounting
-Principles of supervision and management
-ADJC administrative and program policies and procedures
-Federal and State regulatory requirements
-State of Arizona Accounting Manual
-Government accounting and GAAP standards
-AFIS user procedures
-Arizona Procurement Portal (APP)
-Organizational structure of the Agency
Skill in:
-Written and verbal communication
-Establish and maintain work relationships
-Evaluation of a variety of fiscal practices and procedures including audit indirect cost allocations federal match and Level of Effort/Maintenance of Efforts (LOE/MOE) calculations and other factors affecting fiscal needs

Ability to:
-Manage multiple areas of expertise and diverse functions
-Prioritizing changing demands
-Setup robust financial systems and processes that track; ensure tickler system to maintain daily operations

-Work closely with adjudicated youth in a secure correctional setting
A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance OR; a minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or State accounting
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function on the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license records checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.010).
