ELL TEACHER
This full-time position supports English Learners (ELs) in two distinct learning environments:
Leominster Center for Excellence (LCE) A small alternative high school focused on personalized learning and credit recovery with an emphasis on building strong relationships and academic re-engagement.
Leominster Academy A virtual high school program serving students in Grades 912 providing remote access to high-quality curriculum through platforms such as Edgenuity.
The ELL Teacher will provide English language development instruction and collaborate with content area teachers to ensure ELs can meaningfully access curriculum and demonstrate progress in both settings.
Key Responsibilities
At LCE (In-Person):
- Deliver direct English language instruction to EL students at varying proficiency levels.
- Collaborate with general education and special education staff to provide sheltered instruction and academic supports.
- Monitor EL student progress and language acquisition goals through WIDA standards.
- Assist in planning culturally responsive lessons and projects within a credit recovery model.
- Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings and family communication.
At Leominster Academy (Virtual):
- Provide virtual ESL instruction via live sessions recordings or 1:1 conferencing.
Scaffold and modify online assignments to support language development.
Track student progress in virtual platforms like Edgenuity and offer targeted intervention.
Support student and family engagement with multilingual outreach and technology navigation.
Help design onboarding supports and success strategies for ELs learning remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
- MA DESE license in ESL (512)
- Experience working with high school English Learners in both traditional and alternative settings.
- Comfort with virtual instruction tools Google Workspace and online curriculum platforms.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and advocacy skills.
- Familiarity with WIDA ACCESS testing progress monitoring and EL data compliance.
