Software Development Manager, Alexa Shopping

With Alexa becoming increasingly common in homes offices cars and on the go Alexa is playing a significant role in helping our customers capture their needs in the moment. In the Alexa Shopping team we are working passionately to enable this vision by becoming the preferred way to capture and manage customers shopping needs. By combining the ease of talking to Alexa with social shopping through sophisticated AI we are transforming how customers shop in stores and online. We will intelligently help customers anticipate and keep track of what they need save them time and experience the best value during shopping. Key job responsibilities
As a software development manager you will work to identify and create (when needed) effective channels to deliver proactive shopping experiences across Alexa and Amazon endpoints like Mobile Echo Family of Devices (EFDs). Alexa shopping content reaches millions of customers every day. You will build and optimize distributed systems ensuring high concurrency low latency and massive scalability while reducing the operational overhead for partner teams enabling them to focus on customer-centric innovations. You will also own and build engaging proactive content that improves the diversity of proactive content customers engage with. Success in this role means measurably improving customer trust engagement and satisfaction while driving meaningful downstream actions through Alexas shopping capabilities. All your work has a direct and visible impact on shopping experiences of Amazon customers.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
