Job Description
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Computer Operator I is responsible for performing instrument maintenance and operation in support of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) facility at the Southern Great Plains (SGP) site near Billings OK.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Set up launch and monitor radiosonde soundings.
- Maintain all applicable station logs and reports during shift operations.
- Provide routine site fire and security checks.
- Monitor and respond to site fire and security alarms.
- Monitor authorized after-hours visitors.
- Perform other duties and tasks as directed by the Site Operations Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate. An Associates Degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge of work practices methods processes and skills in the computer operator/IT field to include experience with Windows Office (Word Excel Outlook etc.).
- Must be a self-starter team player detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
- Must have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Must possess a valid drivers license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.
