Director Total Fund Insights & Analysis

Management Analytics is an integral part of CPP Investments with the objective of evaluating how we generate incremental returns and manage our existing resources. It represents a management capability that can help us over long horizons iteratively improve the Funds long-term investment performance.

The Director Total Fund Insights & Analysis is a key member of the Management Analytics group within the Finance department. The individual will be responsible for leading portfolio analysis reporting deliverables and accompanying processes and peer benchmarking with the objective of enabling senior management with financial information and insights to continually improve long-term value-add generation. The role will require an influential voice and the development of an extensive network with senior stakeholders across the Fund to execute on accountabilities. The individual will require knowledge of investment analysis concepts combined with effective communication team leadership and project management skills. The individual will also have experience navigating extensive and complex data environments.

Major Accountabilities:

• Oversee and direct integrated portfolio analysis across ex-post performance cost and exposure metrics from a total Fund lens to generate insights that enables management decision-making
• Advise senior stakeholders on analytical findings and drive thought leadership initiatives proactively anticipating information needs based on organizational priorities
• Lead external peer performance benchmarking activities and work alongside internal and external information providers to develop novel analytical views and enhance findings
• Drive analysis and reporting for the Board and senior management and lead the presentation of this analysis to senior management committees
• Partner with experts across Finance Risk Total Fund Management and the Office of the Chief Investment Officer to generate explanations of total Fund performance drivers and to develop compelling materials to facilitate senior management discussions
• Act as the key point of contact for the Office of the Chief Investment Officer in total Fund performance assessment activities related to decision analysis attribution and portfolio reviews
• Guide the adoption of new technology tools to facilitate user-driven solutions and leverage own data capabilities to facilitate and direct analysis and reporting views
• Ensure a robust control and governance ecosystem as it relates to reporting processes and actively seek continual improvement through proactive process enhancement and automation

• Lead in the development of direct reports and promote a culture of high-performance execution excellence through a commitment to quality and collaboration through a partnership-mindset

Qualifications :

• 8 years of progressive experience in a role involving financial and investment analysis and reporting senior communication team leadership and project management
• A professional designation from a globally reputed professional body (e.g. CFA CPA MBA)
• Exemplary critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to leverage an extensive data and knowledge environment to determine solutions and derive actionable insights from analysis
• Exceptional relationship management skills to support effective cross-department partnerships
• Superior communication skills with an ability to articulate complex concepts and new ideas to senior executives through plain language and powerful visualizations
• Demonstrated cross-functional execution leadership and project management capabilities to lead the development and implementation of multiple business solutions and reporting deliverables simultaneously
• Strategic mindset that combines a commercial approach to decision-making with an interest in understanding the details to provide situation-tailored solutions and recommendations
• Proven ability in managing a team to deliver successful outcomes under a high-paced environment
• Knowledge of business intelligence tools or database programming languages (Python SQL) is an asset
