General Summary
Participating in a Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) this is a training role working under the direction of professional nursing staff to provide direct patient care. Practices clinical skills to gain experience in acute care/hospital setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Must be participating in Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Understands the patient care technician trainee role in relation to the healthcare workplace especially in relation to the performance of delegated nursing functions.
- Ability to read write and understand medical terminology.
- Follows directions and effectively conveys verbal and written information.
- Performs mathematical calculations accurately.
- Responds to emergency situations appropriately.
- Adapts hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital including all shifts.
- Effectively functions as a member of a collaborative team.
- Organizes and manages time effectively setting appropriate priorities.
- Complies with OSHA standards.
- Understands and respects importance of patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Develops and promotes a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow health team members physicians intra and inter-departments hospital and nursing administration.
- Applies interpersonal relationship skills in the healthcare workplace.
- Understands the ethical and legal issues affecting the work of the patient care technician trainee.
- Understands common mental health problems.
- Understands the features of acute and long-term care.
- Understands ways to improve patient satisfaction/experience.
- Understands general concepts of hospital reimbursement.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of disease process and chronic vs. acute illness.

Pay Range: Flat rate $17
