Job Description

Job Purpose

As the D365 Finance Product Owner you will be responsible for ensuring that our Dynamics 365 Finance solution is strategically aligned with the needs of the Finance function. Working closely with Finance stakeholders you will gain a deep understanding of financial processes priorities and compliance requirements. You will play a critical role in assessing the impact of changes to the system prioritising requirements and ensuring that all developments support Finances goals and deliver business value. This role is essential to the success of our transformation programme and contributes directly to improving financial accuracy efficiency and strategic insight.

Key Responsibilities

Close Collaboration with Finance

  • Work in partnership with Finance teams to thoroughly understand financial processes reporting requirements controls and challenges.
  • Ensure the D365 Finance solution supports operational finance statutory compliance and strategic planning activities.
  • Facilitate workshops to gather detailed business requirements and translate these into clear actionable user stories and specifications.
  • Represent Finance in all development and delivery conversations ensuring the teams needs are fully considered and embedded in the solution

Requirement Prioritisation and Change Impact Assessment:

  • Collaborate with Finance Process Owners to prioritise requirements in line with regulatory deadlines operational needs and business strategy.
  • Lead the assessment of change impacts on system and financial processes reporting cycles controls and stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Clearly articulate the implications risks and value of proposed changes to key stakeholders and decision-makers.

Agile Delivery and Implementation Support:

  • Act as a core member of the agile delivery team contributing to sprint planning backlog refinement reviews and retrospectives.
  • Participate in quarterly PI planning sessions and support effective coordination with other product and transformation teams.
  • Partner with Finance SMEs and process owners to ensure all training materials and communications reflect system changes and process updates.

Technical and Partner Engagement:

  • Translate business requirements into technical deliverables effect changes where appropriate and provide guidance to internal and external development teams.
  • Ensure Finance requirements are implemented accurately and effectively by working closely with technical colleagues and external partners and following change governance processes.
  • Support testing efforts by defining test scenarios and assisting with UAT execution where appropriate.

Strategic Insight and Roadmap Planning:

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the D365 Finance roadmap identifying upcoming changes that may affect Finance operations or compliance.
  • Monitor relevant financial technology trends and propose enhancements that could benefit the Finance function.

Key Member of DRIVE Programme Implementation Team:

  • Play an integral role in the wider DRIVE implementation programme ensuring Finance is represented and supported throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other Product Owners and business teams to ensure cross-functional alignment and seamless delivery.

Qualifications :

Required Skills & Experience:

  • At least 5 years experience delivering finance system implementations or large-scale financial transformation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of financial processes including general ledger accounts payable receivable fixed assets month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to prioritise finance-related system changes and assess the business impact of proposed changes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between Finance stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Experience working within agile delivery frameworks (Scrum Kanban SAFe).
  • Solid understanding of financial governance compliance and audit requirements.

Desirable

  • Product ownership or product management experience in a Finance context.
  • Experience working in regulated or complex environments (e.g. manufacturing public sector financial services).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and the wider Microsoft ecosystem.
