Job Description
ALTEN UK is seeking a Controls Electronics Engineer with expertise in power electronics mixed-signal design and EMI/EMC compliance to join our team supporting leading Defence & Aerospace clients in Derby.
This is a high-impact role contributing to the design of mission-critical hardware operating in harsh environments.
What youll be doing:
- Designing analog digital and mixed-signal circuits with a focus on low noise radiation tolerance and temperature extremes.
- Developing DC-DC converters motor drives and power distribution units.
- Implementing EMI/EMC mitigation strategies across PCB and system level aligned with DO-160 and MIL-STD-461G.
- Leading pre-compliance and compliance testing including radiated/conducted emissions & susceptibility.
- Supporting system-level grounding shielding filtering and bonding.
- Performing root cause analysis and corrective action on test failures.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including hardware PCB layout systems and mechanical engineers.
Qualifications :
What were looking for:
- Strong background in controls or power electronics engineering.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes logic/spectrum analyzers and electronics testing (thermal/ambient).
- Familiarity with SPICE Altium LTspice MATLAB/Simulink.
- Working knowledge of DO-254 DO-160 and aerospace-grade PCB design standards.
- Experience designing for redundancy fault tolerance and reliability (FMEA).
- Confident working in a formally documented environment (requirements traceability config/change control).
