Ben Davis University is seeking a dynamic student-centered Guidance Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early college programs dual credit pathways and high school curriculum planning. This position requires a counselor who can build strong relationships with studentsparticularly sophomores and juniorswhile supporting their academic social and emotional development.
The Guidance Counselor will work collaboratively with students families teachers and staff to ensure every scholar is on track for both high school graduation and completion of their associate degree. This role includes deep involvement in scheduling academic advising and career/college planning.
Provide individualized academic advising for students with a focus on college and career pathways aligned with BDUs early college mission.
Work closely with sophomores and juniors to guide them through academic choices dual credit enrollment postsecondary planning and personal/social development.
Monitor student academic progress attendance and behavioral concerns and develop intervention plans in collaboration with parents and staff.
Participate actively in master scheduling including student course requests balancing of sections and collaboration with VU and district leaders.
Utilize Skyward proficiently to track student data maintain accurate records input schedules and communicate academic progress.
Support students in crisis situations and implement appropriate social-emotional supports and referrals.
Collaborate with VU academic advisors BDU teachers and administrators to ensure scholars meet associate degree requirements.
Assist in the planning and implementation of campus-wide initiatives such as 9 into 10 Night College Planning Events and Advisory programming.
Provide guidance for SAT/ACT preparation college application processes financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
Facilitate and participate in parent conferences and academic intervention meetings.
Support the development of a positive school culture focused on academic excellence inclusion and personal growth.
