Description

The Indian Child Welfare (ICWA) team in Human Services Public Health is seeking a Social Work Unit Supervisor. In this position you will be part of a leadership team that oversees all aspects of the ICWA Child Protection area. This position will be responsible for leading and supervising a unit of 8-10 Child Services Social Workers. Child Services Social Workers provide case management services for children and youth in out-of-home placement.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the South Minneapolis Human Services Center at2215 East Lake Street Minneapolis MN 55407 and other various county sites and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. 4:30 p.m. but will include occasional evenings and weekends. While this position is designated as hybrid based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

This is a full-time benefit-earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employeeLimited duration employees are not eligible.

In this position you will:
  • Provide leadership direct supervision and coaching to a unit of social workers and senior social workers responsible for the well-being of Native children in out-of- home placement; select and develop staff plan and assign work and evaluate employee performance.
  • Create an inclusive work environment address barriers and decrease racial disparities.
  • Provide staff with direction and support to understand the impact and the importance of their work in relation to the countys mission and purpose and provide policy expertise in program areas related to child welfare.
  • Serve as program lead subject matter expert and ensure program compliance with applicable state and federal regulations including ICWA Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act (MIFPA) and Tribal-State Agreements.
  • Work with your team to develop goals performance expectations and strategic plan implementation approaches.
  • Promote and maintain a work environment where clients are treated equitably.
  • Collaborate with the ICWA Ongoing leadership to ensure strategic goals are met the needs of children and youth are addressed and promote an efficient and equitable working environment.
