Description

Center for Human Services (CHS) is seeking dynamic and caring people to join our Youth Services team as Family Support Specialistsserving students and families at Stanislaus County schools with resources and case management services. We have both fulltime and parttime opportunities which will start onJuly 28 2025. Requires ability to fluently speak read and write English and position follows a traditional school year calendar and may include occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Position Summary: Provide case management services and facilitate groups and classes for families meeting with clients in their homes at schools or other community locations. Works with school/ community programs and agencies to establish services in the best interest of the client and their family.

DUTIES:

  1. Facilitate linking of services and resources for the benefit of students and their families. Maintain a high level of customer service to students and families.
  2. Coach and provide support to parents families and/or students in developing age-appropriate social skills conflict resolution anger management substance abuse money management personal hygiene job readiness and necessary parenting skills.
  3. Make home visits telephone calls and/or communicate electronically to inform parents of school programs services and activities.
  4. Establish and maintain positive public relations with district staff parents students and the community.
  5. Attend meetings regarding the educational program for students.
  6. Assist in the planning implementation and operation of student/family services both internally and externally.
  7. May serve as a member of the Student Study Team and other site-based student/family service groups.
  8. Participate as a team member for specific student issues; assist in resolving concerns with purposeful interaction with parents and other family members as necessary.
  9. Assists the Principal or designee in monitoring students with poor attendance. Coordinate and collaborate with appropriate District personnel and departments to coordinate support services to families in need.
  10. Provides guidance to parents and students in reaching their academic and social goals and monitors progress toward established goals.
  11. Coordinates student referrals to appropriate school and community resources.
  12. Ensure incidents that are of a serious nature involving students are reported to the proper site/district administration or legal authorities.
  13. Promotes parent and community involvement and positive public relations for school programs and services.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  15. Conduct parent meetings and trainings which may occur in the evening hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 2 years related experience working with families in schoolsor human service agencies
  2. BA/BS in related field with experience in crisis intervention case management group family or individual counseling. Degree may be waived with additional experience in related field.
  3. Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred. Ability to speak read and write in Spanish fluently.
  4. Experience and ability to work effectively with people of all ages socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and with a wide variety of community organizations.
  5. Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
  6. Computer skills including knowledge of Windows Microsoft Word and Excel.
  7. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
  8. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing. (if required)
  9. Valid California drivers license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
  10. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.

  3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public co-workers clients supervisors and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race color creed religion gender sexual orientation gender identity or expression national origin age ancestry political affiliation citizenship disability medical conditions marital status amnesty and military or veteran status.
  4. Will promote and support a culturally and linguistically diverse workforce and be responsive to the population within our service area.
  5. Maintain confidentiality and confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or agency regulations.
  6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings in-service trainings conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
  7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
  8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork collaboration and cooperation.
  9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
  12. Preparation of assigned reports work records statistical data job performance evaluations work plans etc. in a timely manner.
