This position is for a machinist role in the Tech Center Building K Fabrication Shop. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate CNC Milling equipment. This includes setup operate and adjust precision machining on miscellaneous tooling fixtures devices under test and components. The machinist will determine the method and procedures including necessary calculations for completing each job. This is a UAW position.
Responsibilities:
Sets up operates and adjusts various milling machines turning machines etc. to perform precision machining operations on details of dies jigs fixtures miscellaneous tooling parts for repair prove design parts experimental and/or research parts.
Uses a variety of special equipment and attachments as required.
Determines methods and procedures including necessary calculations applicable to the setup of machines and performance of required operations.
Improvises machine setups.
Provides operating instructions and improvises complicated setups for experimental prove design and metallurgical sample parts.
Lays out intricate parts and plans subsequent machining and hand fitting procedures.
Adheres strictly to blueprint specifications without the aid of established procedures.
Evaluates results so as to determine the feasibility of jobs for production.
Assists process engineers in developing manufacturing process improvements and manufacturability analyses.
Develops manufacturing processes for new materials.
Carries through to completion the development construction and/or fabrication of all kinds of experimental parts to test engineering theory and design.
To achieve top rate in this classification the individual must be capable of assisting and consulting with others to resolve problems.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years machining experience
Previous operation of CNC machining equipment
Top Candidates Will Have:
CNC Programing Experience
Working Knowledge of G and M coding
Proficient Print Reading
Fundamental Understanding of Geometrical Tolerances
Previous Experience Operating a CNC Milling equipment
Proficient using Microsoft Office 365 programs (Outlook Powerpoint Excel)

The location for this position is Mossville IL.

Summary Pay Range:
$35.81 - $38.49Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
