The Bilingual Doula Home Visitor Supervisor is Responsible for supporting Doula and Home Visiting staff and ensuring high-quality programming for Healthy Parents & Babies. Ensures compliance with Head Start Best Practice Standards and all State and Federal regulations. The Doula and Home Visitor Supervisor supervises our Doulas and Home Visitors. The Doula Home Visitor Supervisor leads our community-based Doula and Home Visiting services to ensure high-quality evidence-based practices are being used to help mothers achieve healthier and empowered births.
- A Doula is a trained non-medical professional who provides continuous physical emotional and informational support to a mother before during and shortly after childbirth in the immediate postpartum period.
- An Early Head Start Home Visitor is a trained professional who provides weekly comprehensive support services to pregnant women infants and toddlers in their homes.
Responsibilities:
- Program Coordination & Administration:
- Institute quality assurance measures to ensure the consistency of services.
- Facilitates ongoing parent groups with relevant topics for parent education promoting socialization prenatal groups child development and/or recruitment of other families.
- Works with program staff and management team to ensure full enrollment.
- Ensures program adherence to all relevant Early Head Start program requirements recommending changes to procedures and updating forms.
- Attends all meetings and/or conferences as assigned (community state regional and national).
- Data Collection & Reporting:
- Participate in data collection program evaluation and event monitoring for reporting programmatic or contractual objectives or as assigned by the program supervisor.
- Present data and provide feedback relative to service needs; prepare monthly documentation and annual reports to supervise quality and improvement.
- Provides weekly supervision and support to Doula and Home Visiting staff in Early Childhood Development Prenatal Services Family Support Nutrition and Parenting per Healthy Parents & Babies (program requirements).
- Regularly coaches observes and documents the work of the Healthy Parents & Babies Doulas and Home Visitors to ensure they supervise and maintain caseloads.
- Ensures that all written and electronic records are complete and up to date.
- Completes monthly monitoring of participant files to ensure all records are up-to-date complete and accurate.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date information on program policies and procedures shares with Healthy Parents & Babies staff and ensures adherence to such policies and procedures.
- Community Collaboration:
- Establish and maintain joint community relationships with outside service agencies providing child and health care services.
- Design activities to recruit new community partners and supervise systems to document familys participation referrals and follow-up.
- Introduce standard processes pilot new activities and adopt innovative approaches to recruiting and maintaining community partners.
- Partner with ERSEA Coordinators and Program Administrative and Marketing Teams to develop comprehensive program promotion to best serve the needs of Healthy Parents & Babies families.
- Work closely with the other community-based doulas home visitors and supervisors.
- Home Visiting Services / Doula Services:
- Provide Doula support and backup services including field support and coverage of home visiting services.
- Develop and maintain supportive believing relationships with families to promote maternal and child health and positive birth outcomes.
- Utilize professional training and judgment to complete assessments and screening of families physical social psychological and environmental health status to develop and implement care plans make appropriate referrals and provide in-person connections to community resources.
- Serve as an advocate to ensure children and pregnant participants receive appropriate services from the program community medical and private entities.
- Provide individualized health education relative to adopting safe and healthy behaviors including healthy parent-child interaction and self-care practices.
- Collaborate with care providers allied professionals and other community partners regarding the needs of children and pregnant participants.
- Supervision & Monitoring:
- Participate in the orientation and onboarding of all new Healthy Parents and Babies staff.
- Directly facilitates the professional growth of the Doulas and home visitors.
- Ensure that Doulas attend approximately two births each month and maintain availability around the clock during those births. Each full-time equivalent (FTE) doula is responsible for leading a caseload of 20-23 families throughout the year.
- Ensure that Home Visitors conduct a minimum of 46 weekly visits per family per year with each visit lasting at least 90 minutes.
- Ensures that Home Visitors maintain a caseload of 10 children.
- Ensures that Doulas maintain a caseload of 10 to 12 pregnant participants.
- Embedded Professional Development:
- Guides the ongoing professional development of the Doula/Home Visiting staff including:
- Providing coaching/mentoring facilitation of staff onboarding and team development.
- Developing and implementing staff training.
- Facilitation of monthly reflective supervision cycles plan and facilitate community of practice meetings.
- Providing guidance and assisting home visiting/doula teams with prenatal/home visitor socializations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Social Work Human Services or related field.
- At least three (3) years of related experience in service delivery to culturally diverse families with young children using a strengths-based approach.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Must obtain DONA certifications within a year of employment.
- Knowledge of community resources in Chicago IL
- Sophisticated digital literacy including Excel Word and Outlook.
- Must receive training in education nutrition and other topics relevant to the position.
- Must plan and implement appropriate family/parent educational activities and function as a member of the program team.
- Ability to establish supportive relationships with children and families.
- Shown understanding of community resources family welfare and government assistance programs.
- Understanding of community resources and the capacity to develop community partnerships to ensure that families receive comprehensive services.
- Communicate optimally and function well with families children staff and various professional community groups.
- Must have strong analytical communication (written and verbal) interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Deep commitment to advancing diversity and incorporating it into interpersonal routines and practice.
- Efficiently establish and handle relationships with colleagues/clients and gain their trust and respect.
- Relief and experience in handling risk and uncertainty to move work forward.
Salary: $77400.00 - $85000.00
