Job Description and Expectations
Reporting Structure: The Life Coaches report to the Lead Life Coach
Performance Agreement: The Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) Life Coach will perform all aspects of the communicated job description. This employee will effectively meet the performance expectations of the MSD of Wayne Township. Formal performance evaluation will be conducted annually.
Purpose: To provide services to aid student success in curriculum address barriers and attendance serve as a liaison to community resources accommodations and continue onto post-secondary schooling or careers.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
DOMAIN I: ASSISTING STUDENTS WITH REGISTRATION AND ORIENTATION
- Engage students around setting goals around initial ALP before enrollment.
- Review student schedules sent from registration in order to schedule classrooms visits to meet new students
- Coaches have a weekly visit in ELL conversation circles and HSE independent learning time
- Welcome students the first week of attendance and welcome letter for a student conference
- Oversees life coaches tracking of student barriers/solutions administer translated INCE assessment and document the new student conference in Connectable with link to assessment scores
- Identify and contact students who are not yet enrolled (0-11.5 hours)
DOMAIN II: COACH AND CLASSROOM SUPPORT
- Address chronically absent students as referred by Supervisors or teachers
- Engage tardy student to build better success plans for employability
- Provide accommodations and educational support through IEP and 504 conferences and planning
- Conduct academic reviews for students prior to testing
- Provide leadership to address sub tech security and building needs
DOMAIN III- COMMUNITY RESOURCES
- Assist with maintaining and expanding website with 25 defined services including; housing food income health child care additions mental health legal support transportations disabilities immigration and employment
- Support with school-wide community resource fairs with community agencies
- Support with engagement events such as coat drives food drives volunteer opportunities and other ways of giving back to the community
- Assist with outreach with events such as Community Leader Luncheon Guidance Counselor Fall Conferences Backpack Events LAP JAG IWC COIN Latino Resource Fair Shalom and Back to School Nights
- Support with quarterly Life Coaching Corner newsletters is sent with featured success stories post secondary career training and barrier resources - links to our pages.
DOMAIN IV: STUDENT SUPPORT
- Offer emotional and personal support for students in need or crisis
- Reinforcement of employability and life skills
- Maintain accurate and confidential records to be shared only with Lead Coach or Coordinator
- Partner with ES Supervisor to create a Students4Hire pages for ELL and HSE student with professional headshots resumes assist with job applications and practice interviewing skills
- Capture achievements in The Vault; citizenship employment post secondary promotions military apprenticeship etc.
- Assist with professional appointments credential evaluation translated resources college applications fafsa and documents;
- Engage students to build digital literacy and keyboarding skills using WIN Courseware
- Assist students with post secondary entry and record achievements in The Vault
- Move 5-10% from ELL to HSE to CT processes
- Immediately share and document issues with abuse harassment and concerns with the Coordinator.
- Assist with drills and emergencies per the drill and be prepared to provide grief counseling.
- Support Student Ambassador Program and Council
DOMAIN V: WAYNE COMMUNITY/CLASSROOM CULTURE
- Represents WTAE at Ecosystem meetings
- Advocate for and display cultural competency and equity
- Ensure a positive culture and environment
- Exude professionalism and enthusiasm
- Collaborate and proactively communicate with colleagues for a successful team
- Attend all Professional Development and Coaching meetings.
