Position: Special Education Teacher for ABA Classroom
Location: Houghton Elementary School
Pay: In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
The Special Education Teacher for the ABA classroom shall possess a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. The Teacher shall hold a valid Massachusetts teaching certificate with endorsements in moderate or intensive special needs as the position may require while also having SEI Endorsement. The Teacher shall have experience in ABA programming. This is also a year round position and includes teaching in the summer for 5 weeks Monday through Thursday.
The Teacher shall:

2. Conduct or supervise data collection summarize results for student records and prepare written progress reports as required.

4. Conduct developmental or educational evaluations and observations; write and present reports for team consideration.
5. Write final draft IEPs for students in the ABA class as required.
6. Assign tasks to paraprofessional support staff and review their daily work with students.

8. Collaborate and communicate with other professionals including regular education teachers related service providers Special Education Coordinators and consultants to develop approaches that benefit each student to assure that goals and services are being met.
9 Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develop reasonable rules of school behavior and procedures and maintain order in the school and classroom in a fair and just manner
10. Assist the administration in implementing District goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the District
11. Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as required
12 Participate in Restraint training; become certified in its implementation and maintain the ability to implement techniques of deescalation or restraint be familiar with regulations related to restraint use.
13. Maintain and improve professional competence
14. Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the building principal or designee
15. Responsible for serving as a member of the Special Education Team - writing educational plans and progress reports on ESPED and completing assessments within the required timelines.
16. Responsible for the following the student IEP and ensuring compliance with state and federal compliance ; including the delivery of high quality services; the provision of accommodations/modifications for instruction and assessment and the implementation of BIPs.
17. Responsible for remaining up to date with curriculum content and for modifying the curriculum and instruction for students with disabilities as identified on their IEPs.
for implementing high quality teaching and learning with small and large group instruction formats using appropriate differentiated instructional techniques.
for communicating and collaborating with regular education teachers and other personnel in their educational programming for students with disabilities
20. Responsible for understanding the state required guidelines around alternative testing and for providing appropriate accommodations as identified on student IEPs during these administration periods.
for assessing student knowledge using formal and informal means to develop measurable IEP goals according to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and to support student learning.
22. Responsible for creating and coordinating a schedule of services for students to ensure all IEP requirements are met throughout the substantially sub-separate and inclusive settings.
23. Responsible for creating and administering the MCAS-ALT portfolios for students in grades 3-5 by adhering to all DESE requirements development guidelines timelines and protocols.
24. Responsible for classroom management of all students meeting monthly with parents participating in all building and ABA Program consultative meetings as well as weekly staff meetings to ensure student growth.
Full-Time
