Job Description
Overview
Our client is seeking a compassionate Hospice Music Therapist to provide professional music therapy to patients in accordance with company protocols. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Music Therapy degree current Board certification and relevant experience in geriatric and end-of-life/terminal illness healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent professional music therapy in accordance with company protocols and accepted certification practices
- Effectively inform and educate our patients staff and facility partners about music therapy
- Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment
- Plan review and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid in the planning of subsequent sessions
- Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments singing and listening
- Encourage patients to take part in the session and support them by responding musically and improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating to give comfort during the last stages of life
- Support the patients creative development and facilitate positive changes in their behavior and well-being
Schedule and Shift Details
- Work schedule and shift expectations will be provided during the interview process.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors degree or higher
- 1 years of experience in ANY of the following:
- Geriatric Care
- Senior Care
- Geriatric/LTC
- 1 years of experience in ANY of the following:
- Hospice
- Healthcare
- Palliative Care
- Valid MT-BC
- Valid Music Therapy in Michigan (MI)
