Software Engineer
Location: Remote (Preferred locations - LATAM SA & PH)
Compensation:
- South Africa: $2500 $4000/month USD
- Philippines: $1800 $3000/month USD
- LATAM $2500 $4100/month
Industry: Research Data & Technology
Schedule: Full-time Flexible overlap with EST hours required
About the Role
We re looking for a talented and mission-driven Software Engineer to join a growing remote team that builds scalable tools and solutions to support a high-performing research operation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment enjoys solving complex problems and is passionate about writing clean efficient and scalable code.
You ll work closely with product and operations teams to design and develop tools that streamline workflows enhance user experience and contribute to a world-class research service.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build test and deploy new features and enhancements
- Design scalable APIs and backend services to support product growth
- Improve system reliability performance and maintainability
- Debug and troubleshoot technical issues across the stack
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and team standards
- Continuously learn and apply new technologies to optimize and future-proof the platform
Requirements
- 3 years of professional experience as a full-stack or backend software engineer
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python or Ruby
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript React Postgres(or similar) and
- Experience working with modern frameworks and APIs (e.g. React Django Express)
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL MySQL)
- Familiarity with AWS Docker CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native practices
- A problem-solver mindset with attention to detail and code quality
- Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of accountability
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote globally distributed team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a research SaaS or content-driven environment
- Exposure to asynchronous task processing (e.g. Celery Sidekiq)
- Familiarity with AI or data processing technologies
NOTE
For more senior or specialized candidates (AI DevOps-heavy or architectural work) we could look to add $500 $1000/month to the top end.
