2-3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
The Centre Assistant will support the day-to-day running of a children s centre by undertaking a range of cleaning domestic and basic childcare duties.
The role contributes to the overall well-being safety and comfort of children and all centre users.
Working closely with childcare staff the Centre Assistant helps maintain a clean and safe environment assists in mealtimes and activities and supports the daily routines of the children.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Carry out cleaning duties including vacuuming mopping sanitising toilets and cleaning toys and furniture.
Maintain cleanliness of utility and kitchen areas ensuring all equipment is cleaned and safely stored.
Operate washing machines and dryers to launder items used within the centre.
Prepare light snacks and wash up as required.
Support with general care and supervision of children under the guidance of childcare staff.
Assist with setting up and tidying away after children s activities.
Accompany staff and children on outings as needed.
Help children with toileting and changing ensuring cleanliness and comfort.
Maintain health and safety standards including immediate reporting of hazards.
Support mealtime routines and help manage spillages safely and hygienically.
Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in cleaning or general domestic duties in a care or educational setting.
Ability to assist in caring for and engaging with young children.
Good communication skills with both adults and children.
Ability to prepare basic food/snacks in a safe and hygienic manner.
Understanding of basic health and safety practices in the workplace.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Awareness of and commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion.
Additional Information:
This role involves physical work including cleaning and lifting.
Cover needed to support children with additional needs.
Previous experience in cleaning or general domestic duties in a care or educational setting. Ability to assist in caring for and engaging with young children.
