You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Family Developer is responsible for assessing and training potential families for the foster
care program and for ensuring that all appropriate potential parents are licensed. The Family
Developer will work within the team to ensure all potential families are supported and prepared
to become foster parents.
Essential Functions:
1. Follow all Lutheran Services Carolinas policy and procedures.
2. Plan participate and/or facilitate orientation sessions for potential families in conjunction
with the family recruiter in a flexible and timely manner.
3. Responsible for the planning facilitating and implementation of pre-service training to all
potential families.
4. Assess potential parents for strengths and weaknesses in fostering youth; determine if
potential parents are appropriate for fostering in conjunction with the team using data
collected observations and interactions with potential parents.
5. Conduct home studies assessments such as the AAPI and any additional screening
tools that are determined required. Collect and accurately complete all necessary
paperwork as per State regulations.
6. Responsible for ensuring all appropriate potential families are licensed in a timely
manner as per LSC agency standards.
7. Provide support to potential families as needed.
8. Develop plan in conjunction with the assigned staff to address any needs the potential
families may have.
9. Represent Lutheran Services Carolinas professionally in the local community.
10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education: A Bachelors degree in Social Work or a related field of study in human services
and two years paid experience with families. Masters degree in Social Work or a related field of
study in human services preferred.
Experience: Two years paid experience in child and family services. Experience and working
knowledge of DocVault system is preferred. Experience in a teaching/training role for adults.
Experience in assessing families. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
Specific skills/abilities: Qualified professional (QP).
Specialized knowledge licenses etc: Knowledge of family dynamics and adult learning styles.
Minimum of 21 years of age.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to

1. Position is homebased.
2. Usual office conditions apply sitting at desk for extended periods (more than 50%) and in
front of computer.
3. May conduct trainings in church facilities office conference rooms or other sites as
determined.
4. Driving in personal vehicle required.
5. Ambulatory throughout all locations/facilities.
6. Ability to bend stoop and reach overhead.
