Job Description

Colorado Academy seeks a dynamic and passionate Engineering Manager to join an innovative and collaborative department effective August 2023. This is a full-time 10-month Pre-K-12 faculty position that reports to the Director of Fine and Performing Arts and the Director of Technology.


The primary role of this position is to work collaboratively with other faculty whose classes incorporate the Upper School Innovation Lab and Theater Workshop in programs from Arts to Engineering and Science. This position will also manage the Upper School Innovation Lab as well as assist in maintaining other makerspaces and related equipment on campus.


The Colorado Academy campus has a fabrication space and woodshop with tools such as a CNC mill laser cutter 3D printers and other modern tools.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach Middle School and Upper School Tech Theater
  • Serve as a hands-on resource expert in machinery and concepts for classes that are using the Innovation Labs
  • Establish safety protocols and standards for the use of tools and equipment in the Innovation Labs and Theater Workshop
  • Collaborate with faculty and provide assistance in and out of their classes on the effective use of tools in the Innovation Lab.
  • Expertise using tools for fabrication such as wood and metal working CNC mills laser cutters and 3D printers
  • Proficiency using 2D and 3D Modeling CAD software (such as Fusion 360 Solidworks OnShape or similar)
  • Manage and supervise the Innovation Labs including the organization of the space purchasing of materials equipment maintenance and safety operations and training of students and other faculty members
  • Provide maintenance of equipment such as laser cutters and 3D printers in all three divisions of the school
  • A flexible and growth mindsetthis position is likely to evolve over time as the Engineering program expands and new classes are developed
  • Participate in Middle School or Upper School Interim
Requirements
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Interest with multidisciplinary classes such as in the area of blending computer Science engineering robotics science and art.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence: the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives identities and lived experiences is a must.

The pay for this position is $63200 - $113900. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex gender or gender identity but relates solely to a seniority system a merit system or relevant education training and/or experience. Medical Dental Vision and Life Insurance benefit programs are available as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
