JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Executive Director Head of Trading Documentation Europe and supporting the Managing Counsel & General Manager Derivatives and Trading Documentation the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Negotiation and execution of master agreements and other trading products to reflect CIBCs documentation standards policies and procedures as well as other documentation and advice in respect of the derivatives regulation on behalf of CIBC and its affiliates.
- Navigation of various online platforms to negotiate client facing contracts and to also access amend and maintain information in accordance with CIBCs trading and collateral management guidelines and procedures.
- Regulatory compliance documentation including EMIR / UK EMIR.
- Review of regulatory initial margin documentation.
- Management of multiple relationships including trading room personnel relationship managers and risk officers up to and including executive level.
- Fostering positive working relationships with professionals in corporates and banks.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating master agreements including ISDA Master Agreements give-up agreements cleared derivatives execution documentation as well as repurchase agreements stocklending agreements collateral arrangements and regulatory amendments with corporates and banks to support CIBCs capital markets trading activities.
- Project finance hedging transactions are an integral part of the departments work and either experience in or an aptitude to learn this area is essential. Guidance and training in project finance hedging will be provided.
- Responsibilities also include the communication and implementation of CIBCs documentation policies and procedures with respect to trading products in accordance with the standards set by CIBC and various regulatory and industry bodies to assist in the development of solutions to manage regulatory change. It is essential to ensure the most appropriate documentation is utilized to mitigate credit and legal trading risk.
COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- The successful candidate will be a graduate and qualified lawyer with three or more years relevant post-qualification experience from a financial institution or law firm.
- Familiarity with trading documentation (ISDA Master Agreements CSA GMRA and/or GMSLA).
- Knowledge of credit risk policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with trading environment and banking organizational structure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Effective organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple requirements and time constraints.
- Adaptability and flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment.
AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS
- Ensure documentation standards for credit risk of trading products conform to regulatory legal and industry requirements.
- Be fully engaged in the drafting and negotiation of master agreements with a predominant focus on CIBCs financial institution and corporate client base.
- Commitment to performing this role in a collaborative and transparent manner.
- Play an active role in the implementation of standards and policies for trading contracts in respect of business units and products globally.
JOB DIMENSIONS
