The person in this position will work independently performing a variety of highly responsible and frequently complex technical duties. Read on for a general glimpse of what a day might include:
You will support the Transit Police Division a unit of the Sheriffs Office Community Partnership Section with responsibility for the safe and secure storage of evidence/property fleet/equipment purchasing uniform acquisition/distribution and other specialty service functions.
You will support all daily functions of the Transit Police Division to ensure continuity of operations aimed at providing a safe and welcoming public transportation system for all.
You will interpret and apply all applicable laws and procedures regarding the evidence room fleet service and procurement as well as uniform standards and pricing.
You will answer questions and explain department policies to officers and other County departments and suppliers.
You will ensure fleet is maintained and operational performing basic services such as charging batteries checking and filling tire pressure as well as coordinate services and repairs of vehicles through the fleet maintenance shop.
You will intake property/evidence from satellite secure storage areas throughout the Sheriffs Office locations and transport items to a central facility.
You will perform general warehousing and other specialty duties such as preparing paperwork ordering stocking and receiving orders.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Required: Three years of progressively responsible customer service and equipment accountability experience that involves the following skills:
Project planning and purchasing experience that requires detail oriented multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
Maintain equipment inventories individual assignments billing and other related tracking documents.
Contract administration for specialty areas such as fleet clothing facilities or related services.
Training or experience in fleet and equipment support service facilities or related services.
Computer proficiency with the knowledge and ability to learn additional computer programs Microsoft office Excel etc.
Must possess a valid drivers license by time of appointment.
Must pass a criminal records and employment references check.
Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Prior experience in handling evidence and evidence property
Prior experience in purchasing and procurement
Prior experience in fleet management and maintenance

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This recruitment may be used to fill full-time part-time temporary limited-duration and on-call positions.
Pay Range: $29.28 - $35.88 hourly
Type of Position: Hourly overtime eligible represented by the AFSCME Local 88 union.
Schedule: Monday Friday day shift schedule with the occasional need to work outside standard work hours with advance notice given.
Work Location: This position works onsite at Transit Police Central Precinct 1020 NE 1st Ave Portland OR 97232 with travel to different locations.
Telework: Ad Hoc telework (occasionally working from home) may be available for this position.
Equal Pay: Please be advised that the pay range listed for this position is intended to provide general guidance on the earning potential for the role. However actual compensation will be determined in accordance with the Oregon Equal Pay Law and will take into account factors such as the candidates relevant experience and education. Candidates should expect that initial offers will be made within the listed pay range and may not be at or near the top of the range.

Every day Multnomah County staff work together to serve as a safety net for our communities. During a disaster this safety net becomes even more critical.
