Job Description
Position Summary:
Vance County High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Baseball Coach to support the head coach in leading the baseball program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field while promoting teamwork sportsmanship and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices skill development drills and game strategies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes promoting leadership and discipline.
- Support game-day preparations including lineup management warm-ups and in-game decision-making.
- Assist in monitoring academic progress and eligibility of players.
- Promote a positive and respectful team culture aligned with Viper Nation values.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes by adhering to school district and NCHSAA policies.
- Assist with equipment management field maintenance and team logistics.
- Support off-season training programs conditioning and player development.
- Represent Vance County High School in a professional and positive manner.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching or playing experience at the high school collegiate or competitive level preferred.
- Strong understanding of baseball fundamentals rules and strategies.
- Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff administration and student-athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check as required by Vance County Schools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with high school student-athletes.
- Familiarity with NCHSAA regulations and eligibility requirements.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles for baseball players.
