A Day in the life:
You will set the standard for leadership within our facility leading by example and ensuring that our organizational culturebased on Integrity Intensity Innovation and Involvementis upheld. As the Distribution Center Manager at ThermoFisher Scientific you will lead and manage all activities of the supervisors with a focus on lean process improvement and transformation.
Core Responsibilities
- Driving process improvement through three key areas: Automation Systems and the Lean methodology
- Evaluating and implementing material flow improvements and finding opportunities to remove waste from the process
- Resolving problems that prevent timely and efficient handling of orders
- Participating in the hiring process and recommending candidates for hire
- Training developing and mentoring staff while promoting employee development creativity and two-way communication
- Coordinating cross-training and execution planning of all distribution center colleagues
- Assuming supervisory duties in the event of an absence
- Ensuring all policies and procedures are followed accurately and efficiently
- Ensuring compliance with State DEA ATF and OSHA regulations
- Maintaining compliance with regulatory and operational procedures
- Working directly with the Regional Operations Manager to meet P&L goals and objectives
- Think and act with a customer-centric approach to deliver exceptional customer experiences
- Prioritizing customer requirements and being dedicated to meeting or exceeding customer expectations
To be successful in this role you will need
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Manhattan experience is preferred
- Knowledge of warehouse operations including receiving storage picking packing and shipping processes and familiarity with different material handling equipment
- Experience with warehouse automation systems (e.g. MHE conveyance automated storage and retrieval systems)
- Proven understanding of operational safety and health requirements (EHS)
- Current knowledge of regulatory requirements including DOT and HAZMAT
Education:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience (bachelors degree in Business) Supply Chain or a related field preferred) or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of dynamic management experience in a distribution or manufacturing operations environment
- Proven track record of continuous improvement implementations using methodologies such as Lean Kaizen and 6 Sigma
- Experience opening new facilities is a plus
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Limited travel is required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment without air conditioning in the summer
- Must be able to perform the supervisors and other jobs in the warehouse when team members are absent
