The Sustainability Academy is the countrys first elementary school focused entirely on Education for Sustainability located in the Old North End of Burlington Vermont. At SA we definesustainability as the shared responsibility for improving the quality of life for alleconomically socially and environmentallynow and for future generations.
Sustainability Academyis seeking a passionate and energetic Speech Language Pathologist - Assistant (SLP-A) to join a school district committed to high levels of achievement for all students. This position requires one to work with students who have diverse cultural backgrounds learning needs and accommodation plans (IEPs 504 Plans and/ or EST Plans). Applicants must be dedicated to the belief that all students can be successful and that all students have the right to be included. Applicants must also be eager to collaborate with our special education and individual student teams.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Assisting SLPs with planning and providing speech-language pathology services to students with speech voice or language disorders. Additionally assessing students and providing therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with students ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. Implement speech and language programs or activities as planned and directed by speech-language pathologists. Monitor the use of alternative communication devices and systems. To facilitate and supplement the educational process under the direction of a professional staff member. Responsibilities include communication facilitation hearing aid management carrying out programs designed by the SLP managing behavior teaching self-regulation skills and supporting & facilitating social engagement with peers. Physical responsibilities include lifting carrying personal care and the ability to assess a situation and respond quickly.
