Position Summary
In collaboration with and under the supervision of a licensed teacher support the creation of a vibrant and engaging learning environment focused on reading development. Perform a variety of instructional tasks including assisting with the delivery of reading interventions working with students individually or in small groups to improve literacy skills preparing reading and instructional materials supporting classroom management and conducting planned reading activities using teacher-directed methods and materials.
Provide support with student supervision in various settings such as hallways lunchrooms and playgrounds to help maintain a safe and respectful school environment. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the educational and operational goals of the school.

Minimum Qualifications
Educational Background
- High School Diploma or equivalent by OAR
- Two years of post-secondary study or
- An Associates degree or higher or
- A passing score by time of employment on a state or local academic assessment that measures knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics. More information can be found at: have a valid Oregon drivers license
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Must be able to complete all tasks described in full job description (available upon request)
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Willingness and ability to assume responsibility of one-on-one working relationships with students and staff
- Must be able to review and follow lesson plans prepared by program coordinator
- Will be required to provide health maintenance for students who have physical challenges
- Must be willing to learn and follow health behavioral and educational protocols written specific to individual students
- Help manage and support the behavior academic and health plans for student experiencing physical mental and behavioral challenges
- Applicant should possess the ability to work well with student who are experiencing physical mental and behavioral challenges
- Will need to meet the criteria for No Child Left Behind Act set by law and also complete all of the requirements under the State of Oregon statutes rules and regulations that apply to these NCLB requirements
- Flexible willing to work with a variety of grades to address student needs at times
Essential Responsibilities Related to the Position

- Assists in monitoring classroom management in accordance with the districts discipline procedures which may include the physical restraint physical movement lifting and carrying of students

- Communicates effectively and appropriately in both oral and written form.
- Work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing; perform physically demanding requirements of the job.
- Knowledgeable in the use of English and a basic understanding of the subjects in which this position is to provide assistance.
- Operate standard office equipment such as computer copier and word processor; and operate audio-visual equipment.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students their needs interests and abilities.
- Supervises students in and outside of the classroom with an understanding of and provision for a safe environment.
- Assist with large group activities as drill work reading aloud and storytelling
- Checks notebooks corrects papers and supervises testing and makes up work as assigned by the teacher.
- Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments.
- Collaborates and confers with students parents colleagues and community members in a harmonious and respectful manner.
Professional and Ethical Responsibilities
- Performs various clerical functions in student record keeping monitors assignments maintains accurate files and other related functions.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills assemblies and play periods.
- Follows all safety rules and takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and secure working environment.
- Complies with professional development activities as required by the District.
- Demonstrates computer literacy and operates software programs as related to job responsibilities.
- Maintains accurate complete and confidential records as required by law and District policy and regulations.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
- Maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student family colleague or district patron and uses or relays academic social or personal information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities and in the best interest of the individuals involved.

- Follows all laws District policies rules regulations memos announcements and reasonable requests by proper authority.
- Maintains regular attendance at work and work activities and is punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedules.
Other Requirements/Responsibilities
- Must maintain a First Aid and/or CPR Card if required
- May be required to serve as a Delegated Caregiver or Designated First Aid Provider
- Occasionally performs other duties as required by supervisor

- Bilingual (Spanish) abilities preferred.
Evaluation
Following the probationary period performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
Terms of Employment
Days and hours to be arranged with salary according to current schedule.
The start date for this position is August 26 2025for the 2025-26school year.
