You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe House Cook is responsible for preparing meals for the residents and understanding and following resident requests in regard to allergies and food intolerances. In addition the House Cook is responsible for other clerical environmental and organizational tasks. This person must convey a positive image of the facility and have a genuine caring for and interest in working with elderly people. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and possess outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The Cook works closely with the House Manager to ensure operational performance quality of service and competitiveness with other area facilities. Must be a firm decision-maker taking into consideration the impact of his/her decision on the overall organization.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with employees residents residents families visitors and coworkers in a professional andconfidentialmanner
Initiate and participate in quality assurance and improvement activities based on the 4 components of quality: customer satisfaction employee satisfaction process/system refinement and financial impact
Demonstrate the ability to embrace and project the values of the facility: safety trust and respect teamwork partnership and service compassion integrity efficiency and financial responsibility
Communicateaccurateand pertinent information tofacilitateeffective and efficient resident care
Provide informative written and oral correspondence
Make informative decisive decisions
Apply problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when needed
Maintain awareness of governmental societal legalenvironmentalandcompetitivefactors affecting the home
Residents:
Prepare and serve breakfast lunch and dinner with the help of the kitchen aide
Assist with the maintenance of residents records to include charting daily intake etc.
Facilitate staff resident and family communication to resolve conflict and create a positive home environment
Assist with admissions by greeting and helping with the orientation process at the facility
Regulatory and Legal:
Comply withthe facilitys policies and procedures and recommendchangeswhen necessary
Bring to the attention of the House Manager anydeficienciesthat may arise
Ensure compliance with policies relating to bloodborne pathogens hazard communication and infection control
Ensure compliance with respect to risk management; death the dying and the aging process; fire safety; disaster preparedness; residents rights; grievance procedures; and medication administration
Housekeeping/Laundry:
Ensure odor-free facility
Pick up soiled linen and deliver clean linen to the kitchen
Sweep and mop at the end of your shift
Empty all trash including kitchen area trash and take out
Other:
Develop skills and education through other higher educational and/or continuing education opportunities. Annual continuing education requirements shall be as determined by State regulations or as required by administrator
Attend staff meetings asrequired
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
If needed a certification from a physician nursepractitioner or other health care professional to verify no communicable disease open skin lesions or any other health problems would interfere with job performance
Nopreviousfelonyconvictionorconvictionforfraudof the federal government
Background check required upon offer of employment
18 years of age
Previous food-handling experience preferred
Ability to lift 50 pounds and handle physical demands on a regular basis
