Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Legacy Gift Officer inspires and engages the philanthropic community by connecting donors passions and interests to the current and future needs of the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). This position develops and executes comprehensive strategies to achieve planned giving goals including cultivating long-term donor relationships and securing charitable gifts such as bequests charitable trusts and annuities.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to identify cultivate solicit and steward legacy and planned gifts
  • Knowledge of estate planning charitable giving vehicles and relevant tax laws
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite planned giving software and donor databases/software
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT or other CRM systems preferred
  • Strong written verbal and public speaking communication skills
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Skilled in donor stewardship relationship-building and collaborative teamwork
  • Familiarity with fundraising communications and marketing strategies
  • High level of initiative integrity and discretion in handling donor information
  • Commitment to ethical fundraising practices and creating a positive inclusive work environment

Experience:

  • 3 years in fundraising or financial planning with a focus on legacy giving or estate planning for individual donors
  • Proven track record in meeting fundraising/performance goals
  • Professional certification such as CFRE or CAP or accreditation from an estate planning academic program preferred

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to NTFBs annual fundraising goal by managing an increasingly productive portfolio of individual major donors with an interest in making a planned gift
  • Identify and qualify prospective donors to build meaningful relationships that lead to planned or major gifts
  • Develop and execute personalized moves management strategies for all assigned donors in RENXT
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy and Marketing teams to support donor research identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship
  • Personally acknowledge planned gifts in coordination with Gift & Development Services and other Philanthropy team members to ensure timely meaningful recognition
  • Partner with Philanthropy and Marketing teams to support the planning and execution of donor engagement events including legacy and major donor events
  • Foster positive mission-driven relationships with staff donors and community members to build long-term support for NTFB and the neighbors we serve
  • Represent NTFB at external events and speaking engagements to increase brand awareness and promote legacy giving
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

  • The person in this position needs to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors such as customer service complaints compliance offenses and competing priorities of reasonable or high significance to the successful function of the unit.
  • Must be able to effectively interpret data and make critical decisions that will have a significant impact on the team and organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with open floor plan with computers phone printers and light traffic)
  • Travel required within our 12-county service area
  • Ability to work outside the traditional workday schedule including some evenings and weekends as needed
