Job Description

Paraprofessonial / Special Needs Aide

Employment Status:Full-Time 9 Months
Hours: 7.0 hours/day 8:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m.
Compensation: Hourly rate per negotiated agreement

Rossford Exempted Village Schools is seeking dedicated dependable and student-centered individuals for the position of Paraprofessional Special Needs Aide. This position provides instructional behavioral and physical support to students in a variety of classroom settingsincluding general education and special education environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • Two (2) years of college coursework or successful completion of the ODE Paraprofessional Assessment (candidates are afforded six months from hire date to provide documentation of successful completion of the Para Pro Test)

  • Must qualify apply for and obtain the ODEW Educational Aide Permit.

  • Strong desire to support students of all ability levels

  • Good health strong attendance high moral character

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work cooperatively with students staff and families

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supporting students within general and special education classrooms

  • Reinforce academic instruction and classroom routines under the supervision of a licensed teacher

  • Support student engagement through individualized or small group instruction

  • Monitor and record student behavior and progress as directed

  • Provide assistance with classroom organization materials distribution and assessment support

  • Supervise and assist students during transitions lunch recess and other activities

  • Participate in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and assist in de-escalation when needed

  • Provide hygiene and physical assistance for students with disabilities as required

  • Attend professional development related to student needs and instructional support

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with students in school or youth settings

  • Familiarity with behavior intervention and positive reinforcement strategies

  • Willingness to support students requiring physical or medical assistance

  • Interest in learning specialized instructional strategies

Other Duties:

  • Serve as a positive role model for students

  • Promote ethical behavior respect and responsibility

  • Perform other duties as assigned by building or district administrators
