Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree ineducation business administration public administration social work or other related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Early College or other types of college in high school program administration secondary or post-secondary program planning administration students affairs and/or academic affairs; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of Early College program administration and/or college access program administration as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with Early College program administration and/or college access program administration.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  8. If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
  9. Experience working with secondary and post-secondary leadership to develop processes and procedures.
  10. Experience developing multi-agency partnerships.
  11. Experience planning and executing programs and events.
  12. Experience developing and managing project budgets.
  13. Familiarity with college access programs and issues.
  14. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  15. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Possession of a masters degree in education business administration public administration social work or other related field.
  2. Experience working with University of Hawaii (UH) and Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) administrators and staff on Early College and/or other college-going initiatives and issues.
  3. Experience working with UH HIDOE and/or other college access programs in Hawaii.
  4. Knowledge of UH undergraduate admissions on-boarding and enrollment management processes.
  5. Three (3) or more years of experience working with high schools and institutions of higher education on dual credit programs.
  6. Progressively responsible experience in designing and implementing educational policies and procedures
  1. Demonstrated knowledge of Career and Technical Education pathways.
  2. Familiarity with Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education.
  3. Experience developing written program materials for widespread dissemination (e.g. collateral materials newsletters).
  4. Evidence of self-motivation creativity and resourcefulness
