Join UChicago Medicine as a Staff Nurse on the Pediatric Critical Care Float Team. As a Staff Nurse on the Pediatric Critical Care Float Team you will regularly float between our pediatric critical care units in Comer Childrens Hospital including PICU NICU and Comer 5th(General Pediatrics/Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) and Comer 6N (Pediatric Heme/Onc) Comer 6S (Pediatric Surgical Unit)..

UChicago Medicine Comer Childrens Hospital located in Hyde Park is a state-of-the-art 172-bed hospital dedicated to caring for infants children teens and young adults.Offering a range of services from general care to groundbreaking treatments for the most complex medical conditions Comer Childrens is home to the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center on Chicagos South Side.

A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess plan implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or higher
      • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Active BLS Certification through The American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of Critical Care Pediatric Nursing experience
  • ACLS PALS and/or NRP certifications
  • RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital
  • Float RN experience
  • NICU or PICU experience

Position Details

  • Full-Time (0.9 FTE)
  • Day shift 7am - 7pm Every Other Weekend Required
  • Unit/Department: Pediatric Float Pool
  • CBA Code: NNU

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
