Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Engineer to lead and support sustainability initiatives across our construction projects. This role plays a critical part in developing and implementing environmentally responsible practices ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and helping the company meet its ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project teams during design planning and construction phases to integrate sustainable building practices.
- Conduct sustainability assessments including life-cycle analysis energy modeling and carbon footprint calculations.
- Identify and recommend innovative materials systems and technologies that improve environmental performance.
- Lead efforts to obtain green building certifications (e.g. LEED WELL Green Globes or Envision) for applicable projects.
- Develop and implement strategies for reducing construction waste energy consumption and water use on job sites.
- Monitor and report sustainability performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date on local state and federal sustainability regulations and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidanceand training to construction teams and subcontractors on sustainable construction techniques.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Construction Management or related field.
- 10 years of relevant experience in sustainable construction or environmental engineering.
- Familiarity with green building standards and associated credentials (LEED AP BDC preferred).
- Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD Revit energy modeling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- This role could operate successfully in our Corporate office in Jacksonville FL or our regional offices in Boulder CO or Stevens Point WI.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects involving significant water usage (potable chilled hot water boiler water etc.) Freon and/or Ammonia refrigeration natural gas and other miscellaneous minor gases.
- Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks.
- Passion for sustainability and innovation in the built environment.
