Special Education Teacher- Life Skills

Here in Freetown Lakeville we pride ourselves on keeping our moderate to severe students within the District. We have two classrooms that are options for the students: An Adult Transitions Program (18) and a Life Skills classrooms (grades 9-12). This posting is for the 9-12 position. POSITION OBJECTIVE:This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School for chairing annual IEP for writing and revising as liaison for a caseload of Special Education for effective management of the classroom for using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence to for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning including implementing specific strategies for students with moderate to severe disabilities.8. Responsible for the creation and implementation of differentiated curricula encompassing core content areas and life skills.9. Responsible for management of paraprofessional resources in the classroom.10. Knowledge and experience with MCAS Alternate Assessments11. Performance of other job-related duties as QUALIFICATIONS:Required certification in Massachusetts DESE license in Severe DisabilitiesSEI EndorsementBA DegreePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Teaching experience in a substantially separate classroom or program high school preferredDemonstrated experience supporting students with special education needsCandidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years).
