The responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Performs welding requiring precise heat treat application on experimental and prototype parts product building or equipment using all position techniques.
Works with all weldable materials.
Performs welding on fixturing tooling heat treat equipment machine tools prime products and machine related equipment.
Repairs and maintains welding equipment and various fixturing required for testing and/or experimentation.
Performs necessary layout and development work to facilitate job functions.
Determines methods procedures and equipment appropriate for material to be used and operations to be performed.
Assists process engineer in the design development and testing of welding equipment processes and procedures.
Performs a variety of operations and experiments to test and evaluate materials techniques and equipment.
Determines and alters as necessary the operating procedures and test parameters to achieve desired results.
Relates welder preferences to engineering requirements.
Analyzes data collected and draws conclusions based on the data and experience. Submits written analytical reports.
Develops validates and recommends welding parameters for testing and process improvement.
Develops process and writes optimum welding procedure using parts and general guidelines.
Assists others in achieving weld certification standards such as ISO Malcolm Baldridge etc.
To achieve top rate in this classification the individual must qualify as Weld Instructor or Weld Inspector with American Welding Society Certification employee must participate in and complete the Pay For Knowledge program (P4K). P4K is a program designed to encourage learning and demonstrate knowledge through on-the-job training to advance through paygrade steps at an accelerated rate.
Top candidates will have:
Welding certifications
3D modeling software experience
Extensive Blueprint Reading experience
Oxy Fuel Brazing experience
Air Arc experience
Degree in Welding

The location for this position is Mossville IL

Summary Pay Range:
$35.81 - $38.49Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
