JOB DETAILS
TheTransitional Job Coachwill providesupport and appropriate intervention services to eligible students under the direction of a licensed supervisor. The Transitional Job Coachwill also maintain special education records and documentation as directed by a licensed supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Job Summary and Purpose: A Transitional Job Coach with CESIL ACRE certification typically focuses on supporting individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment in achieving competitive integrated employment. Position requires direct supervision of students in various environments including school classrooms on-campus work settings and community job sites. Daily support will be provided to students in Secondary (High School and 18-22) Programs. Here are some common responsibilities:
- Career Planning and Assessment:
- Conduct person-centered planning to identify the individuals skills interests and employment goals.
- Use tools and strategies for career discovery and assessment.
- Job Development and Placement:
- Assist individuals in finding suitable job opportunities that match their abilities and aspirations.
- Develop relationships with employers to create job opportunities.
- Provide guidance on job applications resumes and interview preparation.
- On-the-Job Support:
- Offer coaching and support to individuals during their transition into the workplace.
- Help individuals navigate workplace challenges and build confidence in their roles.
- Collaborate with employers to ensure a supportive work environment.
- Training and Skill Development:
- Teach job-related skills and workplace etiquette.
- Provide training on using adaptive tools or technologies if needed.
- Provide travel training and direct coaching around getting around the community/work independently safely and on-time.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track the progress of individuals in their employment journey and provide data to the IEP Team
- Adjust support plans as necessary to ensure long-term success.
- Directly supervise students on and off campus as directed by Teacher Transition Specialist Department Head and/or Special Education Assistant Director.
- Advocacy and Collaboration:
- Advocate for inclusive hiring practices and reasonable accommodations.
- Work closely with families educators and other professionals to support the individuals goals.
- Work Environment & Schedule:
- Position requires working in various environments including school classrooms on-campus work settings and community job sites.
- Travel between locations may be necessary.
- Job Qualifications
- Must have 48 college credits or associate degree or creditable paraprofessional experience.
- Must Have CESIL ACRE (Certified Employment Support Professional) certification to earn a seniority date after 60 consecutive days in the position. Anyone without certification would be non-certified and not eligible to earn a seniority date.
- Must be trained in the strategies of Safety Care and/or be willing to be trained to be the Safety Care trainer
- Ability to be flexible with scheduling
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and employers.
- Problem-solving and adaptability to address individual needs and workplace challenges.
- Knowledge of employment laws and disability rights.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies or adaptive tools.

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Programs (IEP) under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Participate in Team process as assigned by supervisor.
- Participate in determining student progress and readiness for termination of therapy services under theSupervising Speech-Language Pathologist
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Attend regularly scheduled speech therapy meetings.
- Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law the State Board of Education rules and regulations and the State Board of Examiners Licensing Board for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Present a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
- Comply with all district guidelines and regulations.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues students and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the students under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the licensed supervisor and/or theAdministrator of Special Education/Designee
