Quality Engineering Manager (787 Program)

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Quality Engineering Manager (Level K) to join our 787 Quality Engineering organization team based in North Charleston South Carolina. This onsite position will be responsible for the teams supporting 787 Aft Body and Mid Body.

As a Quality Engineering first line leader you will lead a team responsible for designing maintaining and improving the 787 conformance system. Our team translates complex engineering requirements into clear actionable inspections for our production and quality teammates. Your role will be both challenging and rewarding as you will support production ensuring that quality is not just a goal but a culture. You will also be a part of Boeings safety and quality transformation through the execution of the Comprehensive Safety and Quality Plan. Position Responsibilities:

Leads employees performing Quality Engineering activities in support of 787 Production. Provides education and coaching on Quality Management System processes to ensure compliance. Acquires and manages resources provides quality technical management and leads performance improvement activities. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers partners suppliers and direct reports. Oversees review of technical information to ensure quality and producibility. Manages develops and motivates employees.

Lead teams responsible for:

  • Analyze engineering documentation to determine process capability and conformance

  • Perform audits of critical safety statement of work for engineering build plan and conformance planning improvements

  • Review and improve current build plan for simplification and standardization

  • Recommend and execute corrective actions to address systemic non-conformances

  • Perform engineering change review and verification

  • Perform continuous improvement of Quality Engineering processes

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher in engineering

  • 1 years of experience leading teams (as a manager or individual contributor)

  • 5 years of experience collecting organizing and analyzing data summarizing findings and developing conclusions

  • 5 years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) or similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution processes

  • 5 years of experience managing projects involving cross-functional or cross-business unit teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 years of experience reviewing and authoring technical documentation

  • Quality Engineering experience

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of Boeing Quality Management System

  • 787 Experience
