The function of the Radiology Hospital Aide for the Department of Diagnostic Imaging is to provide essential customer service support. The Radiology Hospital Aide completes organizational and exam preparation tasks with the purpose of assisting patients and OHSU Staff to complete diagnostic procedures. They are to assist with an array of clinical and clerical duties. Their primary responsibility is to assist with providing a safe and customer friendly environment within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.
Supports patient safety needs and provides patient monitoring. Escortspatients and family members to/from the waiting room prepare patient fortheir exam and provide patient with non-technical exam information.
Stocks linen and supplies in exam rooms. Unpacks supplies and stocksstoreroom. Picks up supplies pharmaceuticals and cafeteria orders asneeded. Assists in the supply ordering process by identifying needs as well aslooking for expired supplies.
Reviews and verifies that all upcoming imaging protocols have beencompleted by a radiologist and notifies a technologists if there are some thatare incomplete.
Provides patient transportation and escorts patients throughout OCB KnightCancer Institute as needed.
High School diploma or GED
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Job Related KnowledgeSkills and Abilities(Competencies):
Direct patient contact is an essential part of this position and the aide is expected to work within all areas of
the department. The Imaging Services department has designated areas where ionizing radiation and strong
magnetic fields are present. At no time is the employee required to be in designated areas where X-Ray/CT
radiation is actively being delivered. The aide will be expected to work in areas of strong magnetic fields
(MRI) and radioisotope exposure (Nuclear Medicine and PET). The primary location for this position will be
at OCB Knight Cancer Institute location in Beaverton.
