GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must:
- Be a resident of the State of Michigan for a period of one year at the time of application.
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have no felony convictions
- Have a valid Michigan drivers license
- Possess good moral character
- Proof of licensure by the State of Michigan as an EMT-B
- Proof of Firefighter I & II Certification

Starting Pay:
- Annual - $43680 Starting (84hr pay period)
- Hourly - $20.50
- Annual pay increases with top pay reaching $56304 (at 4 years)
- Overtime eligible- Training Days Special Events & Emergency Callback
Contractual Benefit Time:
- Furlough (Vacation) Days - 40 hours earned every 6 months (Awarded January 1 and July 1)
- Personal Days - 40 hours annually
- Sick Days - Earned 8 hours a calendar month
- Paid Holidays - 13 days per year (8 hours per Holiday)
- Employees working designated holidays are eligible for double time
- Compensatory Time - Option in lieu of overtime pay
Health Care:
- High deductible plan (Health Savings Account (HSA))
- Able to put into HSA tax free
- Can use benefit time once accrued
- Single Plan limit for 2023 - $3850
- Delta Dental with $1500 orthodontia coverage
Defined Benefit Retirement:
- Accrued at 1.5% for first 10 years
- Accrued at 2.0% for remaining years of employment
- Must work until 55 to be eligible to collect
Retiree Health Care:
- No retiree health care. City and employee each put $1250/year into an ICMA account specifically for paying the employees retirement
Longevity

- $1350 combined; paid last pay in June
