Discover Impactful Work:

The Driver is part of our inventory management team performing warehousing functions as needed at customer sites. Logistic requirements must align with local state and DOT regulations.

A day in the Life:

  • Accurately perform order picking functions and prepare orders for shipment including required inspections of sales order and shipping manifest.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips report safety/mechanical issues to Managers promptly.
  • Accurately perform material handling processes required to receive store pick and ship material.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is accurately placarded loaded and all material and equipment is always secured from movement and in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Accurately perform the receiving inspections of inbound shipments and storage of products in designated warehouse locations.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

Experience

  • Active Class A Drivers License
  • Candidates with a minimum of 2 years of experience in driving warehousing and material handling are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with customer service is beneficial.
  • HAZMAT shipping experience desirable
  • Forklift experience highly desirable or must become forklift certified within 30 days of employment.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and desire to deliver excellent customer service. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientifics values including confidentiality.
  • Possesses a strong desire to serve the customer and the interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of personnel at the customer site.
  • Able to read write and speak English fluently.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination. Additionally ongoing subsequent physical examinations are required at regular intervals to ensure continued fitness for the role. Candidates must have a clean driving record and will be required to pass an initial Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review as a condition of employment.
    Annual MVR reviews will be conducted to ensure continued eligibility for the role.
  • Works primarily at customer sites which may require independent work. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin tetracycline etc).
  • Depending on the area of the building personal protective equipment may be worn including lab coats coveralls hoods facemasks hairnets safety gloves steel-toe shoes (required for all colleagues) bump hats and/or safety glasses.
  • Regularly required to lift 30 - 40lbs and up to 50lbs occasionally.
  • Regularly use equipment including pushcarts pallet jacks mobile cylinders forklifts etc. to push/pull up to 100lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand walk and conduct manual material handling (twisting bending reaching lifting etc.) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in environments with varied temperatures (cold rooms outside etc.)
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
