POSITION OVERVIEW
The United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Texas is charged with enforcing federal criminal laws and with representing the federal government in civil litigation in the district. The United States Attorneys office for the Southern District of Texas is seeking (4) System Support Specialist (one in each location listed) in our Brownsville Corpus Christi Laredo and McAllen office and (5) General Clerk (one in each location listed) in our Houston Brownsville Corpus Christi Laredo and McAllen office. The contractor shall provide these individuals to perform the duties outlined below with the skills necessary to successfully meet the Governments requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position provides troubleshooting assistance and problem resolution for computer systems in a variety of environments
- Such assistance and resolution are provided for personal computers servers and Local Area Networks (LANs).
- The SSS provides support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation testing repair and troubleshooting for PCs linked to networks printers and other computer peripherals
- The SSS performs technical operational and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages
- Job duties require the SSS to install and test personal computers printers and other peripherals configure operating system and other application software programs
- In this position the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems performs hardware and software diagnostics coordinates needed repairs resolves computer system problems including coordination between users and components of a local area network and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software
- The SSS will also provide help desk functions via email phone or in person.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience providing direct end-user support for the applications being supported including both telephone support and on-site assistance to users
- Certain applications may require certification by the software provider
- Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications preferably database imaging or other automated litigation support applications strongly preferred
- Must have hands-on familiarity with the network telecommunications and operating systems environment of the applications being supported
- Prior experience in automated litigation support preferred
- Experience with DOJ office automation environments extremely helpful; should be an expert user of the Governments word processing spreadsheet and email systems
- Excellent oral and written communications skills required
- Pleasant telephone manner important. Undergraduate degree valued
