Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Plans Curriculum and InstructionDraws on content standards of the relevant curriculum frameworks to plan sequential units of study individual lessons and learning activities that make learning cumulative and advance students level of content knowledge. Facilitates learning through lessons designed to sequentially develop skills appropriate to their ability and confidence levels. Provides engaging fun and effective instruction that helps build a strong foundation in health and knowledge and skills in health education utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities. Provides maximum participation for all students differentiating instruction as needed to ensure that all students experience success. Demonstrates a growth mindset individually and supports this development with all students. Communicates in developmentally appropriate ways through a humane sensitive approach that communicates that every student regardless of ability can succeed and will benefit from a healthy lifestyle. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly productive students prepares report cards and keeps appropriate records as necessary. Provides support for school-wide supports and builds a strong positive culture and learning environment. Work collaboratively with team members parents community members and partners to enhance the instructional program and promote student success. Effectively use technology to support effective instruction and student learning. Uses two-way communication with families about student performance and responds promptly and carefully to communication from reasonable professional tasks or duties as may be requested by the Principal and Assistant PrincipalRequired Qualifications:Must hold a RIDE All Grades Health CertificationStrong knowledge of the health curriculum at the high school levelRight to Read Awareness Certification requiredAll Grades Physical Education is preferredPrevious experience working in an urban setting is preferred
