Employment Type:

Full-time (40 hours per week)

Base Hourly:

$22.00

B2312 months

New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement up to aten-year maximum

Job Summary:

To ensure adequate account balances for federal and state grants; to provide financial data and verification of account balances; and to gather information regarding budget allocations and requests. To assist in writing budget revisions to grants that do not have a director and /or budget technician assigned. To assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain alignment with federal and state and other governmental regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

This section outlines the primary duties and key responsibilities required for this role detailing the essential tasks and functions necessary to perform the job successfully with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Reconcile federal state and IGA fund balances with the County Treasurer monthly; prepare and submit deposits to the County Treasurer
  • Reconcile capital outlay purchases with approved Arizona Department of Education budgets; Prepare A/P requests for return of federal and state funds as required by Arizona Department of Education
  • Allocate revenue to appropriate programs for intergovernmental agreements and quarterly interest to appropriate funds
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash requests for federally funded projects and intergovernmental agreements; prepare and distribute monthly revenue and expense reports to various departments
  • Research budget history to provide financial data and verification of account balances
  • Assist and resolve inquiries from district personnel regarding purchase orders account codes and budget availability
  • Prepare analyze maintain and distribute time and effort logs to appropriate departments per federal guidelines
  • Review and approve mileage reports for numerical and budgetary accuracy
  • Assist inthe maintenance ofaccurate records to ensure adherence to district policy and/or state legislation
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Assist in development of federal state and IGA budget account numbers and allocation to ensure conformance to grant reporting requirements and USFR guidelines
  • Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain alignment with federal and state and other governmental regulatory changes per Uniform Grant Guidance
  • Identify prepare and record adjusting or correcting journal entries for revenue expense payroll and budgetary transactions
  • Review and approve requests for travel and conference registration to ensure reasonableness and budget availability and conformance to individual grant requirements
  • Understanding grant budgets and program narratives in Federal and State entitlement grants and assisting with writing revisions to budgets and program narratives in the grants management system for all grants without a director and/or budget technician
  • Review approve record and reconcile all Personnel ActionRequest Forms (PARFs) and purchase order requests to ensure fund availability and appropriateness to grant requirements
  • Mentor an assigned budget tech in the district to assist with problem solving budget analysis and grant revisions
  • Create and prepare financial reports for budget techs district wide
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Three years experience in accounting or equivalent combination of experience and education

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that the applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

Education:

Associates Degree in accounting preferred

  • High proficiency in typing data entry and 10-key by touch with accuracy; excellent test battery; high math aptitude; skill in performing detailed numerical computations
