Summary

As part of Martin Bionics Clinical Care the Patient Advocate manages the clinics administrative process and is integral to communication with our patients referral sources and clinical team. This person is primarily responsible for obtaining the documentation needed to treat patients and build a complete and compliant chart. The Patient Advocate acts as a financial advocate for the patient throughout their journey with Martin Bionics from initial consultation to final delivery and follow-up care.

Primary Duties

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to patients fellow team members and referral sources.
  • Requesting and obtaining compliant documents from referral sources.
  • Maintain accurate and complete electronic files.
  • Manage work in progress (WIP) process.
  • Coordinate and communicate with designated practitioner.
  • Create service estimates and patient financial documentation and counsel patients on their financial responsibilities.
  • Perform chart scrubs to ensure a complete and compliant chart prior to sending for authorization or delivery.
  • Coordinate efforts with Reimbursement team to ensure clinic processes support timely and accurate claim submission.
  • Ensure the privacy and security of protected health information per HIPAA requirements.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to complete and pass Fingerprinting scan under state regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate/Bachelors degree a plus.
  • 1 year prior medical office experience.
  • HCPCs codes medical terminology and O&P knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology for private payer state and federal (Medicare) plans including coding billing and reimbursement protocols.
  • At least 2 years of computer and office equipment experience including MS Office products (Word Excel) e-mail and automated billing systems facsimile machines calculator copiers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
  • Typical medical practice administrative duties.
