Position Summary:

The Audiologist at Athena Medtech is a vital member of our healthcare team responsible for the expert diagnosis comprehensive management and effective treatment of hearing and balance disorders across the lifespan. This role requires a strong theoretical and practical understanding of advanced audiological testing methodologies and cutting-edge hearing aid technologies. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills demonstrate a deeply patient-focused approach and be committed to empowering individuals to achieve optimal auditory and vestibular health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic & Evaluation:
    • Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations for patients of all ages utilizing a full range of diagnostic procedures including but not limited to pure-tone audiometry speech audiometry immittance measures otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) auditory brainstem response (ABR) and vestibular testing.
    • Accurately diagnose the type degree and configuration of hearing loss and identify various balance disorders based on thorough test interpretation.
  • Treatment & Management:
    • Provide expert consultation precise fitting intricate programming and ongoing maintenance for a variety of hearing aid technologies including digital hearing aids cochlear implants and other assistive listening devices.
    • Offer comprehensive counseling and implement evidence-based aural rehabilitation strategies for patients experiencing hearing impairments focusing on improving communication and quality of life.
  • Patient Education & Support:
    • Educate patients and their families extensively about the nature of hearing loss specific diagnoses available treatment options communication strategies and expectations for rehabilitation.
    • Provide empathetic guidance and support addressing patient concerns and empowering them to actively participate in their care plan.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
    • Collaborate effectively with neurologists otolaryngologists speech-language pathologists physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Documentation & Professional Development:
    • Maintain accurate timely and complete patient records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinic-specific standards.
    • Actively engage in continuing education and stay abreast of the latest advancements in audiology hearing aid technologies and best practices in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Current and valid state licensure to practice Audiology in Arizona (AZ) is required.
    • Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA - Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology CCC-A) or the American Board of Audiology (ABA) is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-3 years of clinical experience as an Audiologist is preferred (specific experience requirements may vary based on role seniority).
    • Proficiency in the operation of audiometric testing equipment and various hearing aid fitting and programming software.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically to diverse patient populations.
