Position Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at Athena Medtech is responsible for performing a wide range of routine laboratory tests and procedures that are essential in assisting physicians with the diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease. Key Responsibilities:

• Specimen Management:
  • Accurately collect meticulously process and carefully prepare various patient specimens (e.g. blood urine tissue bodily fluids) for laboratory testing.
  • Ensure proper labeling handling and storage of all specimens according to established safety and chain-of-custody protocols.
• Laboratory Testing:
  • Perform a diverse array of routine laboratory tests across multiple disciplines including but not limited to hematology clinical chemistry microbiology immunology serology and urinalysis.
  • Interpret preliminary results and identify any abnormalities or critical values requiring immediate attention.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
  • Operate maintain and troubleshoot a variety of sophisticated laboratory equipment and automated analyzers ensuring proper calibration function and performance.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on instrumentation as needed.
• Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Conduct rigorous quality control checks on reagents equipment and test processes to ensure the highest level of accuracy and reliability.
  • Actively participate in internal and external proficiency testing programs to maintain laboratory accreditation and quality standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records and ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g. CLIA CAP OSHA).
• Documentation & Communication:
  • Document and report test results accurately completely and in a timely manner using the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding laboratory results urgent findings and any specimen-related inquiries.
• Safety & Professional Development:
  • Strictly adhere to all established laboratory safety procedures universal precautions and infection control guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Actively participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in laboratory science and technology.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a closely related scientific field from an accredited program is required.
• Certification:
  • Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by an accredited agency (e.g. ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or AMT (American Medical Technologists)) is required.
• Experience:
  • One (1) to two (2) years of relevant clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
  • New graduates who have completed rigorous clinical rotations and demonstrate strong foundational knowledge may be considered.
• Skills:
