Job Description

Position Title: Travel Radiology Technician (X-ray Tech)
Department: XRAY
Location: Athena Medtech
Shift: Monday to Friday 23:00 07:30 5 Days/Week
Weekly Hours: 40 Hours
Experience Required: Minimum 2 Years
Licensure: Must hold current Rhode Island radiographer license
Certifications: ARRT (Radiography) Required

Position Summary

Athena Medtech is seeking an experienced Travel Radiology Technician (X-ray Tech) to join our overnight imaging team. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic radiologic procedures for inpatient (IP) emergency room (ER) and operating room (OR) service lines. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical expertise patient-focused care and adherence to high standards of safety and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality X-ray imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols.

  • Prepare examination rooms maintain radiographic equipment and ensure a safe sterile and patient-ready environment.

  • Transport patients and assist with positioning to ensure quality images and patient comfort.

  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals as necessary and operate imaging systems to produce diagnostic-quality results.

  • Enter scan parameters and commands into radiographic systems and adjust density or contrast based on clinical requirements.

  • Monitor patients throughout the imaging process ensuring safety and minimizing radiation exposure.

  • Accurately document imaging findings and update patient records; communicate critical findings to physicians promptly.

  • Collaborate with clinical staff to support efficient workflow and patient care continuity.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.

  • Current certification in Radiography through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

  • Licensed Radiographer in the State of Rhode Island (required).

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical radiography experience preferably in hospital or acute care settings.

  • Proficient in English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently during night shifts in a fast-paced environment.
